Bassist for the all-female Swedish metal band Drain STH, Anna Kjellberg supplied supremely sludgy bottom end for their heavily influenced Alice In Chains style grunge. Crushing “women in rock” stereotypes, Drain’s decidedly male take on alternative metal surprised critics and won over fans, one of whom was Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, who co-wrote and played on “Black” on the band`s critically-received 1999 album Freaks of Nature.
Following the dissolution of Drain, Kjellberg has taken her bass playing in more extreme directions, doing tours with the New York industrial group Hanzel Und Gretyl, and more recently, applying her mortar shelling tone to Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen’s side project, Revolting Cocks.
