| GARETH DAVIES
Before INXS lead vocalist Michael Hutchinson committed suicide in 1997, the Australian rock band had racked up 30 million in album sales and six consecutive Top 10 singles in their decade-long career, charting internationally with a stylishly glossy hard rock/new wave/dance groove.
In 2005, the veteran band hit pay dirt once again with the smash hit reality TV show Rock Star: INXS, where the band auditioned 15 national finalists, each vying to be the band's new vocalist. INXS is currently back in the studio and doing sold-out tours.
Garry Gary Beers, bassist for INXS since 1977, supplies the clever bass hooks, the core of INXS' addictive rhythms. (He was given his double-Gary nickname after his name was misprinted on the first album.) Garry also owns one of the largest collections of old guitars, basses and amps, including a one of a kind acrylic bass.
