Combining barrio rock, folk, blues, R&B, cumbia and tex-mex with traditional Mexican music, Los Lobos are one of the most unique music groups of the last three decades. The band introduced its blended musical heritage to the world while touring with the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan in the late ’80s/’90s
Independently releasing EPs and vinyl in the ’70s, it wasn’t until 1984′s How Will The Wolf Survive? — their first major-label release — that the group met with universal critical acclaim.
Never musicians to follow trends, even ones they created, Los Lobos followed their only #1 hit (a cover of Richie Valens’ “La Bamba” for the 1987 movie of the same name), with La Pistola Y El Corazon, an album of traditional Mexican songs.
Conrad Lozano’s blues-grooved walking bass style is regarded as the beating heart of this divergent and always changing band.
