Before he joined up with hardcore metal group Superjoint Ritual in 2001, Hank III, or Hank Williams III (grandson of country music legend Hank Williams) had a rough ‘n’ tumble career as a cowpunk rocker. Channeling his grandfather’s hillbilly twangy voice, Hank III twisted his legacy into brawling redneck rock, creating a cult following that’s one quart country, one quart metal, one quart punk and ten gallons foul-mouthed attitude.
Hank III’s stint as bassist for the aggro metal Superjoint Ritual is a logical career arc. A brother in all things hard, heavy and vitriolic, Hank is a seamless addition to the band’s clenched-fist crush. His debut on A Lethal Dose of American Hatred topped the metal charts in 2003. Born of legacy themselves (singer Phil Anselmo was the vocalist for Pantera), Superjoint Ritual’s distilled anger and nerve raw aggression has earned them a fanatical fan base.
