New Found Glory’s buoyant, hit-configured pop punk might be brother to Sum 41 and Blink-182, but is more accurately a distant relative of the Dead Milkmen. A knack for contemporizing old school pogo riffing with their trademark choruses, NFG’s breakthrough hit, “My Friends Over You” from the gold-selling Sticks and Stones, landed them the coveted headlining slot on the Warped Tour in 2002. Catalyst, released in the spring of 2004, debuted at Number 3 in the States and in the Top 40 in the UK and Australia. The album’s cheekily titled single, “All Downhill From Here,” went Top 20 worldwide.
Bassist Ian Grushka is the band’s most charismatic member and is the weight on the end of the hooks. Able to bounce and groove, slam and dance, his resourceful bass lines are the undercoat to the band’s gloss finish.
