Tony Musacchia is a creative enthusiastic bass player that brings serious fire and intensity whether he is playing live or writing and rehearsing with his band Astrovan. He is far more than your ordinary bass player that holds down the root notes and hangs in the background, quite the contrary is true. Tony is deeply versed in many different instruments and knows when to lay back and when to turn it up and come out into the forefront.

Although he is mostly noted for being one of Seattle’s premier rock bassists, Tony studies and draws from many different genres of music including, but not limited to Blues, Jazz, Metal, Funk, Soul, R&B, and his guilty pleasure 80′s Hair Metal.

Tony currently is recording with his band Astrovan @ Two Sticks Audio in Seattle, WA (owned and operated by Jason McGerr of Death Cab for Cutie) and features Tony using Ampeg amps and cabs exclusively. He is also featured playing bass on Only Human’s 2007 release titled “The Dismantling” (produced by Don Gunn and James Murphy) which can be sampled at www.myspace.com/onlyhuman

When asked why he prefers the Ampeg sound his reply was “My favorite bass tone is from the old school, 70′s style, dirty and warm, Ampeg created that sound so why play anything other than the real thing? Ampeg also gives me the ability to change up my tone quick and easy when I need to…Musacchia approved”
