Conrad Korsch’s regular gig is as bassist, band leader, and musical director for Sir Rod Stewart. But that’s just one part of his busy schedule. Conrad is a guy who likes to keep busy. His 2017 calendar included a ton of shows all over the word, including a month-long residency in Las Vegas and co-headlining tour with Cyndi Lauper.
He also found time to release a solo album, On the Threshold, including a video of the single I’ve Been, all of which was shot with an iPhone. Conrad even did all the editing himself using iMovie! He performed at the Musicares Benefit honoring U2’s Adam Clayton in June, did a short tour with Manhattan Transfer playing upright and electric basses, and has also been subbing in the Birdland Big Band at the famous jazz club Birdland in Times Square on some Fridays.
Conrad’s production studio, Scrumptious Music, won’t need to dust the cobwebs anytime soon, either. He just finished producing artist Rebecca Wolfe’s debut recording Ms. Anonymous, contributed to Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr’s upcoming second album. And he also composed and recorded an exclusive multi-faceted “Bass Library” of TV / FILM underscore for Strike Audio.
Conrad’s 2017 will end with a bang as bassist, band leader and musical director for Cyndi Lauper’s annual ‘Home for the Holidays’ show at New York’s famed Beacon Theatre on December 9th. One hundred percent of the net proceeds benefit the True Colors Fund’s work to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.
So, will Conrad take a breather in 2018? Not a chance! He will be back out on the road with Sir Rod Stewart, playing venues throughout Europe and North and South America from January to April followed by another Las Vegas Residency at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in June. Whew!
So what’s on Conrad’s Wishlist this Holiday Season?
1. The B15 reissue!
2. UNIVERSAL AUDIO APOLLO 8 (which I plan to order before the end of the year).
3. A visit to Cuba! Before it gets overrun with H&M, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.
Best of wishes in 2018, Conrad!
