George M. Biondo says, “My 2017 was a good but a quiet year and I’m grateful for all the blessings it brought. There were no tours or new music, but I did spend a lot of productive time writing and getting together with other players.
I’m very optimistic about 2018! I’m hoping to play out more and also to finish the book I’m writing about growing up in the musical spawning ground that was Hollywood in the ’60s and ’70s. I’m also leaving myself open to new directions both in and outside of music.”
So what’s on George’s wishlist this holiday season?
1. From way back when… an Ampeg B-15S Portaflex. I had one in the early ’70s; used it to record the John Kay Band Solo album Forgotten Songs and Unsung Heroes . Mine had the optional Altec 421A speaker. For those who are unfamiliar with the B-15S, it had the all-tube head with one rectifier tube. It was slightly larger than the B-15N and had 60 watts. I only sold it because it weighed a bit over a hundred pounds, but it would have been great to just leave in the studio. It was one of the rarest B-15’s and had incredible Ampeg tone.
2. I’m thankful to have all the Ampeg gear I need for now, but it would be really nice to have a Mackie FreePlay portable PA to use when I practice vocals. Or I’m also looking for a great sounding ABG or semi-acoustic bass that’s comfortable to hold and play.
3. I’d just like to keep receiving the wonderful blessing of good health for myself and all my loved ones and friends… Hmmm… and maybe a job at Ampeg? LOL!
Be careful what you wish for, George… you just might get it!
Best wishes in 2018, George!
