Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Este decided from an early age that music was her passion. With both her Parents playing music in their spare time, Este was surrounded by music early on, and at age three her father started teaching her to play drums.
By the age of ten, Este began to explore her love of stringed instruments, since her mother was a very accomplished guitarist. But guitar did not come naturally to her, so her father suggested trying to play bass guitar. After a month of watching “Stop Making Sense”, the Talking Heads concert/documentary, Este was hooked on Tina Weymouth’s bass playing. She then made it her personal goal to be the best bass player in the world. (or at least in the valley)
After years of tinkering around, her family decided it would be fun to play music together for charities around Los Angeles. The band was called Rockinhaim and they covered classic rock tunes from the 60′s 70′s and 80′s.
It was not long before her and her sisters began to write music on their own, and started a band called HAIM. The band played around Los Angeles for five years before finally landing a record deal with Polydor records in 2012. The band has been on tour with Julian Casablancas, Mumford and Sons, Florence And The Machine and Vampire Weekend.
Este plays a 1973 Fender P bass and LOVES her Ampeg Mini SVT. One day, she hopes to be playing bass for Prince. ONE CAN DREAM.
