For rock/metal bassist Mike Inez, it was like winning the lottery. One of 50 musicians auditioning for Ozzy Osbourne’s band in 1990, he aced the tough competition and was chosen to be a part of the sold-out Blizzard of Ozz world tour. Inez stayed with Ozzy through 1993 until he was invited to replace original bassist Mike Starr in Alice In Chains. He was the bassist on the band’s landmark Jar of Flies, which debuted at #1 — the first EP to ever do so.
Inez has kept busy playing with everyone from Heart, Slash and Black Label Society, to side projects with Jerry Cantrell and members of Queensrÿche (Spies For Darwin), and was even considered a replacement for Metallica’s Jason Newsted. Inez’ clean and intuitive style and ability to adapt to all densities of rock make him one of the most in-demand players in the biz.
